Lesson Policies & Expectations
Lesson Structure
Format: In-home private guitar lessons
Location: Student homes within Kootenai County, Idaho
Lesson Length: 45 minutes
Frequency: Weekly (4 lessons per month on average)
Tuition: $200 per month
Tuition secures a reserved weekly time slot and includes travel time, lesson planning, and instructional materials as needed.
Monthly Tuition & Payment Policy
Tuition is $200 per month, due in advance.
Payment is due on or before the 1st of each month.
Tuition is a flat monthly rate, not a per-lesson fee.
Lessons are billed the same regardless of how many weeks fall in a given month.
Accepted payment methods:
(Venmo, cash, or check)
Late payments may result in lessons being paused until payment is received.
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are forfeited and not made up.
Missed lessons due to student absence (including illness, sports, or scheduling conflicts) are not refunded.
This policy exists because your lesson time is reserved and travel is involved.
Instructor Cancellations
If the instructor must cancel due to illness or emergency, the lesson will be:
Rescheduled or
Credited toward a future lesson
Instructor cancellations are rare and handled fairly.
Holidays & Planned Time Off
Lessons may be skipped on major holidays (e.g., Christmas, Thanksgiving).
Planned time off will be communicated in advance.
No additional charges will be applied for instructor-planned breaks.
Practice Expectations
Consistent practice is essential for progress.
Students are encouraged to practice at least 10–20 minutes per day, depending on age and level.
Progress depends heavily on practice consistency between lessons.
Parents are encouraged to support younger students with reminders and structure.
Equipment Requirements
Students must have:
A working guitar (acoustic or electric)
A tuner (physical or app)
Optional but recommended:
Music stand
Notebook or folder for lesson notes
Parent / Home Expectations
A quiet, distraction-free space is required during lessons.
Parents are welcome to listen but should avoid interrupting instruction.
Please ensure pets and siblings do not interfere with lesson time.
Commitment & Termination
Lessons are month-to-month.
Either party may discontinue lessons with 14 days’ notice.
Tuition is not prorated once a new month has begun.
